Its been one week since my last day of work and I am glad to report that we've gotten a lot done in the last 5 days. Darling Husband (DH from here on out) has finalized out flights, booked a hotel for when we arrive in Ennis and even drove all the way to El Centro to purchase 10, yes, you heard that right, 10 suit cases. We've always liked Costco's suitcases and found out a few nights ago that they are being discontinued.
The good news - the prices has been slashed from $130 a case to $49.97 -- Bad news - 2 were in Mission Valley and the remaining 8 were all the way out in El Centro which is about 1.5 hour drive each way. DH some how, some way, managed to fit all 10 suitcases in a Toyota Corolla!!! And, as you know, no trip to Costco would be complete without being stopped by the Border Patrol. Yes, DH was stopped by the border patrol on the way home and was asked what he was doing with so many suitcases. Being so close to the Mexican border they were probably wondering if he was smuggling drugs or something. I had to laugh when he told me - thankfully they didn't insist on seeing the inside of each and every EMPTY suitcase. Never a dull moment around here! Speaking of dull moments, my niece Jenna spent the night while her Mommy went to the Blink 182 concert. I'm trying to squeeze in as much time with my family as humanly possible - the little munchkins had so much fun together.
They had a friend over, chased each other silly around the house and found all sorts of "secret passageways", played Cowboy and Cowgirl and finally, FINALLY got into bed and fell asleep. I am sure they had fun and I hope they remember days like this when they get older and have kids themselves.
We are moving from sunny San Diego to Ireland the first week of December 2011. I am creating this blog to keep in touch with family and friends in the States.

God Bless America
Did you know that my Husband (Fiance at the time) was in the air on 9-11-01? Donal had proposed over the phone....we had been doing the long-distance relationship thing and were missing each other terribly and knew that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. So....he popped the big question, packed his bags, and was headed for the States via Dublin to LAX on September 11, 2011. After four hours in the air, the plane was turned around and sent back to Dublin. Seven days later he finally made it safely to LA. Has it really been 10 years since all our lives changed forever? Are we really safer today than we were 10 years ago? Do you remember? Have you forgotten?
My heart goes out to the families, friends and loved ones of all the brave people who died needlessly on 9-11. You will never be forgotten.9-11 As It Happened
